John K. Murphy, JD, PA-C, MS, EFO. Mr. Murphy possesses comprehensive expertise in ethical considerations relevant to fire and EMS services, mediation, estate planning, non-profit organization management, fire and EMS topics, employment practices liability, policy development and execution, and human resource management within both public and private sector environments.

 

Mr. Murphy also has a focus on risk management and liability, training in safety, developing employment policy and best practices, internal investigations, and is a subject matter expert in pre-hospital EMS and Fire Operations, and performs forensic evaluation on fire and EMS operations.

 

Mr. Murphy's commitment to advancing fire and EMS law is evident through his ongoing educational initiatives. He regularly develops and shares insightful blog posts and educational videos, offering practical guidance and legal perspectives on contemporary issues faced by fire service professionals. These resources are designed to support continuous learning and enhance ethical decision-making within the industry. He frequently consults with private and public service leaders and managers on risk management.

 

Mr. Murphy retired as a Deputy Fire Chief after 32 years of service in the fire department, overseeing all aspects of fire operations and management roles. His past fire and emergency medical experience includes serving as a paramedic/firefighter, Paramedic Program Director, Chief Fire Officer, Chief of Training, Emergency Operations Chief, and Health and Safety Officer. Mr. Murphy lectures and writes on issues related to Fire & EMS Law and Management. He is a graduate of Central Washington University, the University of Utah School of Medicine, and the Seattle University School of Law.

 

He is also a Physician’s Assistant with a focus in urgent, emergency, occupational and pre-hospital medicine medical care. He was a US Navy Corpsman.

John K. Murphy is licensed as an Attorney and Counselor of Law in the State of Washington, the United States District Court, Western District of Washington and is also a Licensed Physician's Assistant in the State of Washington.
